The (Creative) Life and Times of J.G. Jerome

LegoCAD and Blender, sort of…

A long time ago (in this galaxy, I know you were thinking it), I was thinking of creating some surrealistic compositions by mixing a photograph with computer generated elements.  At the time I wanted to have Legos rain from the sky but to make that happen would be expensive in real life.  Fortunately there’s LegoCAD.  I exported a few blocks as OBJ files from there and imported them into Blender.  From there I duplicated the number of blocks until there were several hundred, set the umbrella as a hard body, and had the Legos fall on to the umbrella.  The render of the post is from that experiment.  Enjoy!
